Tohoku University's 虎扑电竞 Center for Accelerator and Radioisotope Science (RARiS) invites applications for a tenured professor position to lead the Accelerator and Beam Physics Laboratory in the Division of Electron Photon Science.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, management, and further advancement of the electron accelerators at RARiS, which serve as a core facility of the Center for Electron Photon Science recognized by MEXT, Japan. In addition to overseeing these facilities, the candidate is expected to pursue research on beam physics, particularly in the generation of high-intensity electron beams and the study of interactions between electrons and photons. The position also involves contributing to the overall strategic direction and management of RARiS. Furthermore, the successful applicant will be expected to take part in educational activities, including teaching in the cooperative course of the Department of Physics at the Graduate School of Science and supervising both undergraduate and graduate students affiliated with RARiS.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field
• Communication skills in Japanese and English sufficient for research and administrative duties

The Advanced Quantum Beam Science 虎扑电竞 Center conducts collaborative research utilizing diverse quantum beams (electrons, photons, protons, neutrons, ion beams) and the short-lived radioisotopes they produce. 虎扑电竞 spans a range of disciplines, including quark and nuclear physics, radiochemistry, nuclear medicine, and imaging technologies. Efforts are also underway to advance RI-based applications in medicine and environmental science. The Center promotes the domestic development and practical use of short-lived RIs, while fostering a network of researchers and training future specialists in accelerator science and radiation safety.
